Discount codes are a great way to offer savings and keep customers engaged with your subscription products.
In this guide, we’ll look at how to set up manual discount codes for subscription-based orders in a simple and effective way. Also, Recurpay supports applying discounts directly through the Subscription Plans section of your Recurpay dashboard.
However, if you want to offer a manual discount code to specific customers subscriptions using Shopify’s discount codes, you can do so by following the steps below or watch this Video for a more detailed walkthrough:
Step 1: Access Your Shopify Admin Dashboard
Within your Shopify admin panel, click on Discounts. Select any of the below-supported discounts.
Step 2: Set Up Your Discount Method
Select the method as Discount code and select Purchase Type as Subscription. You can choose the purchase type as per your requirements:
Important:
One-time purchase - This won't allow the discount code to be applied to a subscription product on checkout and will be limited only to one time purchase.
Subscription - This will allow the discount codes to be applicable only if a customer is purchasing a subscription, which would be the preferred way in case you are creating a discount exclusively for your subscribers.
Both - This will allow the customer to use the discount code on both one-time purchases and subscriptions as well.
Step 3: Set Up Maximum Use For The Discount Code
Select whether you want that discount code to apply to all future orders of the subscription or limit it only to the first order:
Important:
Limit discount to the first payment - The discount code will only be applicable on 1st order.
Limit discount to multiple recurring payments - You can define for how many subscription orders the discount code should be applicable on.
Discount applies to all recurring payments - The discount code will apply to the first order as well as all upcoming orders of the subscription.
Note: You can also restrict the discount code to one use per customer by selecting the “Limit to one use per customer” option, as shown in the screenshot above.
Step 4: Set A Start Date and An End Date and Save This Setup
Make sure to set a start date for when the discount code becomes active and an end date for when it expires. Then, scroll to the bottom right and click the Save button to apply the setup.
