Here is a step-by-step guide to offer exclusive discounts or gated access to your members using Shopify customer tags automatically managed by Recurpay based on each subscriber's current status.

  1. Create a product on your Shopify store for Membership
Set up a product titled something like Membership on your Shopify admin panel.

  2. Set up membership plans on the Recurpay dashboard
Head over to the Recurpay dashboard and create one or more membership plans - for example, Monthly Membership and Annual Membership. Link them to the newly created Shopify membership product.

  3. Understand how Recurpay manages customer tags
Recurpay will automatically update customer tags in Shopify based on their subscription/membership status. These tags can be used to build customer segments:

    • active – If the customer has at least one active subscription

    • paused – If all subscriptions of the customer are paused

    • halted – If all subscriptions of the customer are halted

    • cancelled – If all subscriptions of the customer are cancelled

These tags will update in real time based on the customer's subscription status.

  4. Create customer segments using these tags in Shopify
Navigate to Customers > Segments in your Shopify admin and create a segment using the "active" tag:

  5. Offer exclusive benefits to members in this segment

    • Automatic Discounts
Create automatic discounts on Shopify (e.g., 10% off) that apply only to customers within the defined segment.

    • Exclusive Access
Restrict access to certain pages or collections using these customer tags. You can do this via theme customization or by using apps like Locksmith, which allow access control based on tags.
