Recurpay automatically syncs product prices from your Shopify store to ensure consistency and prevent pricing mismatches. However, there are times when you may not want the new product price to apply to your existing subscribers, especially if you’ve increased prices or are running a limited-time sale.
This is where Product Price Rules come in handy. They let you define when Recurpay should stop syncing new prices for certain products or subscriptions, ensuring existing subscribers continue paying their original price.
Example Scenario
Let’s say you sell Protein Powder for $49.99 and later increase its price to $59.99 in Shopify.
If you don’t set a Product Price Rule, Recurpay will automatically update all active subscriptions to $59.99.
But if you create a Product Price Rule, you can freeze prices for:
Subscriptions created before a specific date (e.g., before the price change), or
Specific products (e.g., products tagged “old-pricing”).
This way, existing subscribers continue paying $49.99, while new customers pay the updated $59.99.
Step 1: Go to Settings > Policies
From your Recurpay dashboard, navigate to Settings > Policies, and scroll to the Product Price Rule section.
Step 2: Create a rule and define your rule conditions
Click Add another rule to define when product prices should not sync from Shopify.
You’ll see options to set your conditions and matching logic:
Match ALL of the below – Applies only if all selected conditions are true.
Match ANY of the below – Applies if at least one condition is true.
You can choose one or both of the following filters:
Subscriptions created between:
Select a date range. Any subscription created within that period will retain the old product price even if you update it in Shopify.Example: Keep original prices for subscribers who joined before October 2025.
Products tagged with:
Use Shopify product tags to apply this rule to specific products.Example: Tag your old products as “legacy-pricing” or “old-subscriptions” and select the tag here.
Step 4: Save the rule
Once configured, click Save. Recurpay will now exclude those subscriptions from automatic price syncing whenever product prices change in Shopify.
Pro tip
Use Product Price Rules when:
You’re running a temporary sale and don’t want discounted prices to affect subscribers later.
You’ve increased prices and want to honor existing rates for loyal customers.
You offer special locked-in pricing for early subscribers or VIP customers.
Your existing subscribers will continue being charged at their original product prices even if you update or change pricing in Shopify. This feature helps you maintain fairness, customer trust, and predictable recurring revenue.
