Recurpay allows you to manage how your subscriptions behave when a product is out of stock in Shopify. With the Product Inventory Policy, you can decide whether to continue selling subscriptions even when an item is unavailable, or pause renewals until it’s restocked.
This setting helps you maintain accurate inventory management and avoid charging customers for products that can’t be fulfilled immediately.
Step 1: Go to Settings > Policies
From your Recurpay dashboard, navigate to Settings > Policies and locate the Product Inventory Policy section.
Step 2: Choose How You Want to Handle Out-of-Stock Items
You’ll see two options under Edit Product Inventory:
Continue selling when out of stock
Subscriptions will renew even if the product is temporarily unavailable.
This option is useful when you frequently restock or fulfill on backorder.
Example: If your Coffee Subscription goes out of stock for a few days, Recurpay will still renew the subscription and mark the order for fulfillment once stock is back.
Deny selling when out of stock
Recurpay will automatically pause renewal orders if the product is out of stock.
Once the product is available again, Recurpay’s Smart Retry System will automatically retry and place the renewal order.
This option ensures you never oversell or take payments for unavailable products.
Step 3: Save Your Selection
After selecting your preferred rule, click Save.
Your inventory policy will now be applied automatically for all active subscriptions.
💡 Tip
If your store frequently runs flash sales or preorders, choose Continue selling when out of stock.
If you want to maintain strict stock control and avoid unfulfilled orders, choose Deny selling when out of stock.
